The blade was polished.
Habaki: Gold single foiled habaki
Blade length : 22.12cm or 9.02inches.
Sori : 0.06cm curved towards the ha
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.1cm or 0.83inches.
Kasane : 0.74cm or 0.29inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : It is ordinary wide and thick
takenokozori(shape that is curved toward the ha) shape tanto.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada with mixture of mokume hada.
There is a faint utsuri that could be observed.
Hamon : Nie base, suguha from the hamachi and gradually
becomes kogunome mixed hamon. There
are koashi seen in the ha. Boushi is sharp end with deep curved end.
Special feature : Many sword smith has flourished during Muromachi period under Harima,
Misaku, and Bizen MIkuni Shugo Daimyo Akamatsu.
Because of the war and battle inside the country, the demand of
katana has boosted. Not only inside the country however, therewere demands
from the trading with China which was at the time period of mei-明-.
Bizen Osafune school was originated from Mitsutada(Keicho around year 1249).
There were many signature with name of Kiyomitsu from Mid to late Muromachi period.
The most famous ones are made from Gorozaemon from Tenbun and Magoemon from Eiroku period.
This sword is categorized as one of the mass produced Kiyomitsu blade
but the condition is not bad.
Unlike the other Bishu signature sword, it is in good condition.
because it is a sword made long time ago, we could see that it is preserved well.
The condition of the nakago is good. The nakago is long with clear yasurime pattern(file pattern).
We would like to recommend this sword.
There were many tantos made in Muromachi period but that decreases in Edo period.
We could see that the war time was over and it was a start of peace.
Koshirae : It is form tanto koshirae
Tsuba : Mokko shape shakudou ishimeji saya.
There is a wave and bird pattern engraved and inlayed with gold,
Fuchikashira : Iron plate with nanakoji style pattern engraved.
Saya : Black roiro saya in ishimeji style.
Menuki : Shakudou base with instrument design engraved and inlayed with gold
