This Kanenobu belongs to Jo saki ranging.
The blade was polished.
Habaki: Copper Single Foiled Habaki
Blade length : 29.69cm or 11.69inches.
Sori : 0cm or 0inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.74cm or 1.08inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.24cm or 0.88inches.
Kasane : 0.45cm or 0.18inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : It is regular width and thickness healthy tanto.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with jinie attahce.
The Hada pattern. It is well seen. It is strong Jigane
and it is know as Hadamono.
Hamon : Nie Deki Gunome midare with sharp Ha.
There is Sunagashi and sharp Togari Boshi. It is deeply burned down.
Special feature : There are two types in Kanenobu.
One is Naoe group and ther is Shigaseki group.
This tanto is made by Shigaseki group Kanenobu.
The jigane is healthy and well grained. Hada pattern is clear.
It is very attractive work. In the past, it was attributed as Naoe Shizu
however this is most likely Shigaseki Kanenobu.
