(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Kunisuke belongs to Saijo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki: Gold single foiled habaki
Blade length : 29.4cm or 11.57 inches.
Sori : 0.2cm or 0.07 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.94cm or 1.15 inches.
Kasane : 0.68cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Edo Shoho period.
Shape : It is rather wide and thick strong looking tanto.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached. There is chikei work appearing.
It is Soshuden style well grained wjigane.
Hamon : Nie Deki Hitatsuba hamon.
There is sunagashi, long kinzuji and Inazuma activity.
Special feature : Kunisuke worked under Ise Kobayashi Nagato Kami however he has later on
become student of Kunihiro in Kyoto because of the corruption of the main family.
However, from the style of this blade it is most likely that Echigo kami Kunitomo was his mentor.
After the death of Kunihiro, Kunisuke has moved to Osaka with father Kunisada and obtained power.
The jigane and hamon is similar to Kunisad aand we could imagine that there were many interaction at that time.
This work is rare Hitatsura hamon that reminds of Soshuden Akihiro and Hsebe Kunishige .
It is sword that could be attributed as higher level smith.

Tsuba : Oval shape iron tsuba with plant design engraved and inlaid with gold.
Fuchikashira : Kojiri: Kurigata: Iron plate with plant design engraved and inlaid with gold.
This sword could be attributed to higher level and it is nice Hitatsuba strong katana.
