Tanto in Shirasaya (NBTHK Hozon paper)

Signature : Mumei (Sue Hosho)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Jyo saku ranking.

The blade was polished by high ranking polissher.
Habaki : Gold foiled double habaki.
Blade length : 25 cm or 9.84 inches.
Sori : No Zori
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.45 cm or 0.96 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.78 cm or 0.7 inches.
Kasane : 0.49 cm or 0.19 inches.
Era : Late Nanbokucyo period to early Muromachi period.
Shape : The blade is elegant nice shape old koto style.
Jigane : Masame hada well grained and along with chikei work.
Hamon : Koniedeki suguha, boshi is hakikake style.

Special feature : There are 5 main Yamato school Hosyo, Taima, Tegai, Senjyuin, Sikkake school.
Especially Hosyo school is well known Masame hada maker.
The founder of the Fosyo atrted from middle Kamakura period.
This sword was Hosyo but recently obtained sue Hosyo school.
Probably Hakikake style is not so strong.
Hosyo zaimei(with signature) is very rare because these Yamato school swords were made for armed priest.
Even though Sue Hosyo, Masame hada well grained beautiful texture with chikei along with texture.
