Signature : Tsunatoshi (Chounsai)

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 18.5 cm or 7.28 inches.
Sori : Uchizori
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.10 cm or 0.83 inches.
Kasane : 0.74 cm or 0.29 inches.
Era : Late Edo Period
Shape : It is regular size and thick tanto and it is in nice shape.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with jinie attached.
There is also chikei works seen. The hada pattern is clear as well.
Hamon : Consisted in nie structure、kogunome is attached and boshi is hakikake style.

Special feature : Tsunatoshi was born in Fuzen at Kanzei 10th year as a brother of Chounnsai.
His real name is Kato Hachiro. He has learned under Suishinshi Masahide and has been called Chounsai.
At Bunsei 6th year he has moved to Azabu, Edo and has made swords. At Bunkyu 3rd year December 9th he passed away.
It is easy to say that this tanto is quite unlike to the previous sword. It is itame hada well grained sword.
This sword is two letter 「綱秀」 Tsuna-hide tanto which is unlike the regular signature that is engraved 「長運斎綱俊」 Cho-un-sai-Tsuna-toshi.
He had not made many tanto so it is rare to come up with Tsunahide tanto. It is again a rare item.
