The founder of the Gassan school started from Kamakura period to Gendai (modern times) by Dewa Gassan province by Oni oumaru and Chikanori, Gunsho. Especially Ayasugi hada is well known Hamon of Gassan school. But the special secret craft way of Ayasugi hamon stopped at late Muromachi period.
But at the end of Edo period, Gassan Sadakazu succeeded to restoring perfectly.
This Ayasugi hada has been kept as the top class secret craft as his Gassan school.
Gassan Sadakazu was quite well known swordsmith and made Soshu, Bizen, Yamashiro, Yamato Hosho style and also mino den.
Afoter Sadakazu passed away, Gassan Sadakatsu succeeded school and educated many famous swordsmiths.
Sadakatsu made a Tanrenjyo (the place for making swords) at Nara Yoshino province moved from Oosaka.
By the request of army and navy, Gassan Sadakatsu made a lot of swords. Also he made sword for royal family and emperor army and also the imperial award for the top graduated student of army and navy student.
This sword was made at Showa 4th year and also wrote the Hakogaki by himself.
The blade is soshu den Ooitame hada with jinie and chikei nice texture and hamon.
