Wakizashi in Shirasaya, with Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon paper)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword Bisyu Osafune Katsumitsu belongs to regular ranking.
Sue koto : Saijyo saku : Ryo Wazamono cutting test ranking : Bizen
The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold foiled single habaki.
Blade length : 58.4 cm or 22.99 inches.
Sori : 2.4 cm or 0.95 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.75 cm or 1.08 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.84 cm or 0.72 inches.
Kasane : 0.57cm or 0.22 inches.
Era : Muromachi period, Eisyo era. (1514 October Feb)
Shape : The blade is rather wide and thick with deep sori and small Nakago which is called Katateuchi sword.
On the sword, deep Kenmaki ryu(a dragon is wrap around a Ken and swallowing Ken)
I think the horimono is atobori which is called later horimono.
Jigane : Koitame hada well grained and Mokume hada mixed nice jigane.
Hamon : Niedeki Cyoji-midare hamon with ashi. Boshi is midarekomi style.
Special feature : The founder of the Bisyu Osafune Katsumitsu started Bunmei era by Ukyo Katsumitsu who was a son of the Rokuro zaemon Sukemitsu.
And second generation was Jiro zaemon Katsumitsu ranked Saijyo saku ranking.
Hikobei and syuri Katsumitsu were working late Muromachi period.
This Jiro zaemin Katsumitsu is not zokumyo uchi but the blade is as same as Zokumyo uchi Katsumitsu.
On the sword has nice engraving but the Horrimono was made later on which is called Atobori.
Koshirae :
Saya : Black roiro saya.
fuchikashira : On the syakudo plate, a gourd bottle and horses with gold color.
Menuki : A samurai on the horse is engraved with gold color by syakudo palate.
Tsuba : On the syakudo nanako plate, some horses are jumping around the field.
