Signature : Chikuzen Kuni Ju Fujiwara Yukimune.
Meiji 4 Nen 8 Gatsu hi Oite Tokyo saku
Explanation: The blade was made by Yukimune (Fujiwara Koretoshi same name)
1871 August at Tokyo.
The blade was polished.
Habaki:copper single habaki.
Blade length : 59.3cm or 23.34 inches.
Sori : 1.2cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.87 cm or 0.06 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.09 cm or 0.82 inches.
Kasane : 0.62cm or 0.24 inches.
Era : Meiji 4n year(1871)
Shape : The blade is almost sword size long wakizashi.
Jitetsu :Koitame had well grained with jinie attach beautiful texture.
Hamon : Niedeki Cyoji midair and gunome midair mixed with many ashi work.
Boshi is midarekomi style.
Special feature : hikuzen Kuni Jyu Fujiwara Yukimune is also called Fujiwara Koretoshi
and he was a student of the famous Koretsugu Fukuoka ishido school.
But unfortunately, at Meiji 4th, Haito rei was ordered by Meiji government
and many sword makers were obliged to stop making swords.
He also obliged to forced out of business. He passed away Meiji 19th age 42 years old.
It maenad the sword was made at his 27th years of age.
This sword is almost sword length long wakizasi.
The blade is very good condition without Kizu and flow.
Koshirae :
Tsuba : Mokko shape iron Tsuba, plants are engraved with gold and silver color.
Fuchikashira : Shakudo.
Saya : Black Ishime-Ji Saya.
Menuki : Shakudo, plant(grapes? wisteria?) is engraved.
Historical background: At meiji 4th Jepanese government issue decree banning the wearing of swords and controlling Japan.
