Blade length : 56.97 cm or 22.44inches.
Sori : 1.74cm or 0.68inches.

Width at the hamachi : 2.54cm or 1inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.62cm or 0.64inches.
Kasane : 0.57cm or 0.22inches.
Era : Late Edo period.
Shape : The blade is regular size width, and thickness with deep sori nice looking shape.
Jitetsu :Koitame had well grained mug style.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha hamon from the hamachi and then doranba hamon with Tama(circle) are well constructed.
Boshi is round shape yakisage style.

The real name of the Kato Tsunahide is called Kato Suketaro.
He was born at Dewa and worked for Yonezawa family.
He was older brother of Kato Kunihide. He and his younger brother Chyounsai Tsunatoshi moved to Edo and studied under the Suishinshi masahide.At that period, Doranba hamon is very popular and studied this technique his master Masahide. He made Doranba hamon with his younger brother Tsunatoshi. We have some chances to see their Doranba hamon. This sword is high quality doranba hamon with Tama(circles). They adore Sukehiro’s doranba oogunome hamon.
His master Masahide stopped to make Doranba hamon because he found the thick nioikuchi doranba is
easy to brake devided 2 pieces during battling. So his mind became reactionary emotion and made swords
which is not charm and somberness hamon but cut well sword.
The doranba which were made by Tsunatoshi and Tsunahide are not thick nioikuchi sword.
So they changed the Doranba not thick nioikuchi hamon like their master.
At modern times, the sword collectors like thick nioikuchi Doranba hamon like Masahide is wryness.
The sword is the top ranking Tsunahide sword.

Kosirae:
Tsuba:On the round shaped iron tsuba, some design are open work.
On the mimi, there are some iron bone appear.
Owari or Kanayama school.

Fuchikashira:On the syakudo nanako plate, some Chinese wise men are engraved and holding sake bottle and a horse coming out from the bottle.
