Wakizashi

Wakizashi : Mumei (Seki school)

Wakizashi in Shirasaya with Koshirae

Signature : Mumei

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 38.5cm or 15.16inches.
Sori : 1.0cm or 0.39inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.93cm or 1.15inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 0cm or 0 inches.
Kasane : 0.6cm or 0.24inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : It is shoubu style shape with curve around the top.
There are bohi engraved on the front side and gomabashi engraved on the back.
Jitetsu :Koitame hada well grained with mixture of ohada.
There are white utsuri seen in the ji.
Hamon : Nie ground, kogunome midare that continues to the top.
Boushi is round end.

Special feature : At first glance, this wakizashi looks like Yoshii school sword.
However, there are sharp end gunome at some parts which makes us think i
t is Seki school sword. It is nice shape
katana. There are some rough parts but it is tolerable.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Hexagon iron tsuba with pattern engraved in openworks.
There are hammered parts at the ji.
Fuchikashira :koijri; Iron tsuba that
Saya : Black unique colored saya.
Menuki : On shakudou ground horse design is engraved.
Kozuka : On shakudou ground, a design based on Chinese tale is engraved
and inlayed with man, pine tree and gold.
