Wakizashi in Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon Paper)

This Shinano kami NObuyoshi belongs to Jyo saku ranking.
Shinto : Chujyosaku : Wazamono
The blade was polished.
Habaki: Gold foiled double habaki
Blade length : 50.2 cm or 19.76 inches.
Sori : 1.1cm or 0.43 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.94 cm or 1.16 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.11 cm or 0.83 inches.
Kasane : 0.71 cm or 0.28 inches.
Era : Edo Kanei period to Kanbun Period (1624-1672).
Shape : It is wid eand thick deep sori katana. The shape is typical of Kanei period swords.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with jinie attached. It is clear jigane.
Hamon : Nie deki gunome midare with ashi well attached. There is sunagashi well appearing. Boshi is round and hakikake style.
Special feature : Shinano Kami Nobuyoshi belonged to Yamashiro province.
The founder of Misina school was started from late Muromachi period by first generation Kanemichi and moved to Yamashiro with many swordsmith like Ecchu kami Masatoshi,
Dewa daijyo Fujiwara Kunimichi, Tanba Kami Yoshimichi and Iga Kami kinmichi.
Even if the blade is suriage, the condition is good and also quality.
The blade is well grained nice Jigane and cery active gunome midare hamon.
Koshirae :
Tsuba : Copper plate with nanako plate with scenery engraved and inlaid with gold.
Fuchikashira : Shakudo plate with a scene of a wise man fishing under a pine tree is engraved and inlaid with copper and gold. Nomura Kanenori.
Saya : Black roiro saya
Menuki : Shakudo plate with pine, sun and monn engraved and inlaid with gold.
Kozuka : Shakudo plate with hen and chick engraved and inlaid with with shakudo and gold.
Kogatana : Mumei
Historical background : 1651 Keian 4th Yui Shosetsu no Ran occur.
After the war many samurai became Ronin (lost job) and combustion against Bakufu (Japan's feudal government).
At that time Yui Shosetsu and other samurai attempted to overthrow Japan's feudal government,
but failed because of an anonymous tip.
Yui Shosetsu killed himself and Maruhachi Chuya was killed by crucifixion.
