Wakizashi

Wakizashi : Ujinobu(Circa Tensho)

Wakizashi in shirasaya, with Koshirae (NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper)

Signature : Ujinobu(Circa Tensho)

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 40.9 cm or 16.10 inches.
Sori : 0.9 cm or 0.35 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.04 cm or 1.2 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.29 cm or 0.9 inches.
Kasane : 0.60 cm or 0.23 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : It is wide and thick long kissaki sword. It is in nice shape.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with jinie attached.
Hamon : Consisted in nie structre gunome midare with ashi, yo activity.
There are sunagashi and kinsuji works in the ha.

Special feature : Ujinobu is from Ganmaki school and is active in lare Muromachi period.
He belonged in Seki smith and has focused in sharp katana.
While there are rough ji in many of his work , this wakizashi has fine jigane.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Oval shape iron tsuba with autumn plants and insects engraved in open work. Akasaka school.
Fuchikashira : On shakudo plate, Karakusa pattern is inlayed with gold.
Saya : On black base, limpet drops are fitted in mother-of-pearl inlay(Raden style)
Menuki : On shakudo plate, there is gold inlay. (Sign unclear)
Kozuka : On shakudo nanakoji plate, two phoenixes are engraved and inlayed with gold.
Kogatana : Mumei
